ABOUT JACOB HOWARD

Jacob is a 20 year old self proclaimed photographer, artist and film maker; his passion for the subject started as more of a hobby than a career path when he was given his dad's old Minolta at the age of 10 for a "Scout Movie Night" in which he was the photographer. Although the developed films were frankly awful, Jacob knew he enjoyed it and kept taking pictures.

At the age of 15 he bought his first camera; a Lomography Fish Eye camera cementing the realisation that photography was his passion. From then on he took pictures of everything, from friends, family and dogs to nature, wildlife and viewpoints. Exploring as many different types and as many ways to do so. This process of taking pictures started of as a hobby; and continued throughout his final years of secondary school when he realised that he wanted to pursue it as a career.

Jacob started Farnham College in September of 2013; at this point he threw himself into the deep end of photography, setting himself tasks of taking pictures wherever he went. With a camera almost surgically attached to him he continued to venture out and take as many different pictures as possible covering all subjects

He then decided to study a  Foundation Degree in Art and Design at UCA (University for the Creative Arts) in Farnham from September 2015 to May 2016. He is now studying DFSA (Digital Film and Screen Arts) again at UCA, building upon his love of art, film making and photography.

Jacob is an avid music fan and loves taking pictures at gigs. He also gains a lot of inspiration from the films he watches and usually implements them this into his photography, this is apparent from a lot of his surreal work, as he not only likes watching stories but telling them as well.

Being a 35mm film "junkie", he would always much rather use Kodak 35mm film, although this is not always practical, he enjoys the thought process of it, the character and feel that film has on a picture. He has always loved and admired the people that still use film in their photography.

If Jacob's there, he usually has a camera strapped to his hand……….
